Medical marijuana dispensaries will soon be opening in Nevada, and up to 39 of them can be located right here in Southern Nevada. On November 3, 2014 the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health issued 55 provisional medical marijuana dispensary certificates and most of them were allocated to southern Nevada. The top 12 rated applications from Las Vegas, top 4 from North Las Vegas, top 5 from Henderson, and the top 18 from Clark County can now proceed with their local jurisdictions. Unincorporated Clark County seems to have the most problems with discrepancies between local and state approvals, but they better move fast to keep up with the pace of the other local governments. Medical marijuana dispensaries are opening up in Nevada !

Our 4640 Dispensary application was denied at the County level and our proposed facility will not be opening anytime this year. It was a long and arduous process but well worth the effort for knowledge and experience.
After submitting application and making presentation at the Clark County Government Building on June 5, we did not receive enough votes to proceed, placing us among the ranks of many other prominent individuals who were denied at the county level. 18 medical marijuana dispensary applications were approved in Clark County and moved on to the state process. The city of Henderson, city of Las Vegas, and city of North Las Vegas initiated their processes, and applicants from those areas also moved on to the state level.
Over 500 proposed medical marijuana cultivation, laboratory, and dispensary establishments have applied to the State of Nevada, and the results are expected to be released November 3 – November 5, 2014.

This is daKota Blue on the right. He is less than a year old and has been diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia, knee problems, elbow problems, and other orthopedic issues. In less than a year, he has undergone 3 surgeries and takes Glucosamine and Chondroitin to support his joints and cartilage. He has been given Tramadol and Carprofen separately to deal with pain and inflammation and was scheduled to take medication for the rest of his life. daKota Blue was one drowsy puppy, but you can’t tell by looking at this Vine video. He now uses medical marijuana instead of drugs that would have destroyed his liver and kidneys. Does marijuana even work on animals? You bet it does! Cannabinoid receptors have been identified in most mammals, birds, amphibians, and even some species of fish. daKota Blue uses marijuana to control pain, arrest inflammation, and maintain a healthy appetite. He doesn’t smoke, vaporize, or swallow tinctures, but he eats baked treats with plain organic ingredients and Canna butter. Now his life is full again, and he takes regular trips to parks, lakes, and rivers. daKota Blue is a happy, thankful dog living in Las Vegas, Nevada. He still has to be limited on the amount of exercise he can enjoy with the other dogs in his pack, but his life has improved tremendously. Check him out on Vine @ Canna Consulting on Vine

On November 5, 2013 Ferndale, Jackson, and Lansing, Michigan voters approved the decriminalization for personal possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana. Ferndale approved the measure by 72% ! but don’t get caught with medical marijuana extractions in Michigan because People vs Carruthers published in July, 2013 set a precedent that excludes extractions from protections afforded to usable medical marijuana. Let’s hope that gets quickly overturned or another case gets tried which could set that record straight.
Portland, Maine voters passed Question 1 on Nov 5 with 70% approval to decriminalize possession of up to 2 ½ ounces of marijuana for anyone over 21 within their city limits. In other parts of Maine, penalties for possession of up to 2 ½ ounces are strictly civil fines. Maine passed laws allowing for the use of medical marijuana in 1999 and passed additional initiatives in 2009 which allows for medical marijuana dispensaries. Sound familiar ? Let’s hope Nevada proceeds in a similarly successful manner.
In New Jersey, Governor Christie signed a bill on Nov 5 which allows dispensaries to now grow more than 3 strains of marijuana and allows them to produce marijuana edibles – but only for sale to legal guardians of children and under the guidance of two physicians. Governor Christie vetoed the elimination of the 2 physician requirement for patients under 18.
Proposition AA passed on Nov 5 in Colorado allows for a 25% tax on the legalized sale of marijuana for recreational use. Millions of additional tax dollars for the state can now flood in. 15% will be allocated for school construction and 10% for regulation, prevention, and abuse education. This increase in revenue is in addition to current taxes being collected for medical marijuana sales in Colorado. 11 other cities and 1 county also imposed additional local taxes on the sale of marijuana for recreational use. The 25% tax increase for the recreational use of marijuana at current prices would add approximately $50 to the $200 per ounce average price. The Colorado Legislative Counsel estimates almost $70 million annually in new revenues from this additional 25% tax. That calculates to an additional $280 million in marijuana sales for recreational use every year. Colorado will collect large sums of money for the combined medical and recreational use of marijuana and this legalization and taxation of marijuana in Colorado could set a great example for other states to follow.
The Las Vegas 2013 Walk to end Alzheimer’s helped raise thousands of dollars for Alzheimer’s support, care, and research. This year we walked at the Fashion Show Mall with many supporters and people cheering all through the mall. Medical marijuana holds great promise in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The United States Government obtained Patent #6630507 in October of 2003 which specifically states that #cannabinoids have been found to be useful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases.
A great big THANK YOU to Findlay Toyota for hooking us up with a 4-pack of tickets to last night’s Clippers vs Nuggets pre-season game at the Mandalay Bay. It was a close game with the Clippers winning 118 – 111 in overtime. We were so close to the court ! with great tickets on the ground level, row C. Chris Paul threw some amazing 3 point shots and Blake Griffin was awesome. It’s always fun to watch multi-millionaires play basketball.
